End of January, 1924 + "memoranda"

Jan 27: Cold slightly moderated. Got up about Sunday school time. Had breakfast after so long a time, helped with work and bathed the babies. Over to [illegible] this eve. Bluer than indigo. Can I ever learn to hold my temper?

Jan 28: Warmer this morning. Snow melted and finally rained. Mama and I went to Findlay with C.H. Slid in the ditch. No damage. Saw "St. Elmo" at New Royal.

Jan 29: Cloudy dismal day, with rain at intervals. Willard and Earl came before we had the work done. Didn't stay long. Played cards a while. Zeke and Dean down. Very tired.

Jan 30: Morning cold and cheerless. Sun tried to struggle through the clouds about noon. Nearly went to Findlay but decided to wait until tomorrow.

Jan 31: A little warmer, but cloudy. Got ready to wash, but didn't. C.H. came up and promised to take us to Findlay in eve. Saw "Long Live the King." Jackie C good. Norma bad.
*Jackie C is Jackie Coogan, who played Crown Prince Otto in "Long Live the King", which was a silent film.
*I love her little dig at Granna.

Memoranda: This the first month has not, I hope, been one of twelve of its kind. It has consisted chiefly of eating and sleeping. Nothing accomplished except keeping babies in good health.
