Fourth week of January, 1924

Jan 20: Cold - snow deep. Slept late. Lena H. over. Boys visiting. Bathed and washed my hair in afternoon. Over to Nan's in eve. Played cards. Floyd and Zeke here.

Jan 21: Extremely cold. Boys skating but couldn't stay long. Norma and Roger have colds. Dad had a little surprise "penny ante" game.

Jan 22: Slightly warmer but very windy and snow drifting. No school yet. Mama sick. Ironed and worked all day. Went over to Nan's Emmitt R's house [illegible].

Jan 23: Warmer, altho not summer temperature. Spent day working a bit and playing penny ante in afternoon. Dad had another party. Wow six bucks--

Roger learning to say his prayers.

Jan 24: Still warm. Air heavy. Had a little game in the afternoon. In spite of very heavy snow, went to Findlay. Saw vaudeville and "An Old Sweetheart of Mine". Merritt kept babies. Norma rather cross.

Jan 25: Cold this morning and got colder every minute. Merritt failed to get a job. Babies have colds. Don't feel well myself. Washed quite a washing. Tired.

Jan 26: Extremely cold. Slept rather late. Mama, Merritt and I cleaned a dirty house, only to have it well messed up by Dad's "dirty bunch". F.J. & Dad lost.
